You Will Need:
Dog Doorstop Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Sew your zip right sides together between the two base panels. Your zip will be too long, I find this way easier to sew as I can move the slider out of the way when sewing.
Sew the open ends of the zip together. Trim the panel to 7 ½” x 3 ¾”.
Tie a knot in one end of the cord, and sew the opposite end to the top of the zip.
Sew together the gusset pieces, matching the letters on your pattern.
Starting at the nose, pin the gusset to one side of the body.
Sew the two pieces together being careful not to stretch the fabric.
Sew the second side in the same way, then add the zipped base, make sure the zip is open before you sew!
Turn the right side out and stuff with toy filler. Add the bag of rice or weight before closing the zip.
Sew the ear pieces right sides together leaving the top open. Turn the right side out, fold the raw edges in by about ¼” and press.
Fold the ears in half and hand-sew to each side of the face, adding the eyes using black embroidery thread.
And voila! Your gorgeous dog doorstop is complete, and ready to get to work! What colourscheme will you create yours in?
